Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Standard Issue LX 0

Fresh from Vans Vault,  new Sk8-Hi Standard Issue LXs have hit our shelves.

Suede is slathered onto the colour-ups on the midfoot, toe and heel. Clearly, inspiration was taken from work boots for this shoe, as cord laces and a ribbed ankle area are put to use. The classic white vulcanized soles remain though, to make it clear that these are still Vans. Royal Blue  suede covers each respective pair, they also utilized an off-white tongue tag and black ankle panel.

THE NIKE SB BELCO BOWL JAM 27th FEB 2010 0

a

Belco Bowl Jam is back! Australia’s longest running bowl event with almost 10 years under its belt. 2010 marks the iconic Belco bowl’s 20th birthday and to celebrate that Nike SB has come on board as title sponsor. Be prepared to witness what a skateboard jam is all about, no entry fee, no wristbands, no bullsh*t , just pure gnar.

Get ready to strap yourselves in for some solid Aussie grass roots skateboarding. No heats or finals, just cash prizes for Lord of the Bowl, Best Run, Best Local, Longest Slide/Grind and a spiced up Best Trick Over the Channel which includes a Shifty’s Creature Feature obstacle. Then stumble over to the Lighthouse after party to watch the infamous Lemvis (as Johnny Cash), Johno & the Trannies (re-united!), and the VeeBees as the headline act.

Nike SB Business manager Kerry Fisher had this to say,
“Canberra skateboarding is the rawest in the country and has the most iconic bowl in Australia, once we heard that the Belco Bowl Jam was on again we jumped at the opportunity to be involved and support this event. It really brings fun back to skateboarding, we aim to make this a great day for not only the skateboarders, but for all that come along to enjoy”

With a Bowl Jam like this we can expect to get a pool of talent from all over the world, there are already rumours flying of Lance Mountain, Chet Childress and Grant Taylor making the trip down!

Mark Rowe Interveiw By Rome Torti 0

Edukated team rider Mark Rowe  interviewed by Rome Torti.

This ollie would’ve been rad if Mark landed on that small child, but he didn’t.

Adelaide’s Mark Rowe, how are you?I am very well, Gold Coast’s Rome Torti. Can’t complain right now.

Awesome! How’s Sydney treating you?Sydney is treating me quite well. I really like it here.

It’s a lovely place. How much do you miss Radelaide? I bet it’s heaps isn’t it.There are certain things I miss about Adelaide – friends, family, etc. But besides that I think the move over here is for the best.

I agree. What do you do for cash besides all the money you earn from ripping on your skatey?I am on Centrelink. They treat me very well.

You and many others. Now that you’ve put in a bit of time in Sydney, what are your thoughts on the comparison of gay town (Syd) to the home of weird murders (Adelaide)?I guess gay people are less harmless than Bad Boy Bubby.

And far better groomed. Does Webster still skate? Is it true he beat you up once? Not sure if Webster still skates, I presume not. Yes he did try beat me up once, he slapped me in the face at City Park when I was younger and that’s about as far as it went.

Here Mark rolls away from a front board 360 shuv out, while back home in South Australia Webster is probably punching someone that isn’t Mark.

He used to rip but had the worst temper in the world for such a small human. Do people ever leave City Park? There’s no reason to leave City Park, the manual pad there is amazing. I presume you’re talking about Adelaide City Park, not Waterloo?

Yeah, I meant the Adelaide one. So you’re a Syd man now, who do you usually skate with? There are quite a few people that skate during the week. The ones I usually skate with are Leigh “bongtown” Bolton, Alex “mini logo” Powell, Stinky, Marty Girotto (before he turned homo and moved to Melbourne), Haydn Jones, THE BULL, Puff, Snape, Jared Bonovich, Beau Reid from Newcastle, Jasper, Sparx, Waterloo Scott, Bing Ferguson, 117a household and more.

All very nice boys. Who are you riding for these days and are they happy you’re in Sydney there rather than the ADL? I currently ride for Alien Workshop, Emerica footwear, Krew clothing and Edukated skateboard shop. I think they would be happier me living here, I’m not actually sure though.Mark Rowe, back salad

If we’ve learnt anything from The Simpsons, it’s that you can’t win friends with salad, hence why Mark has no friends. Salad grind.

There’s a little more going on in Syd so I think they would be. You never thanked me for shooting your cover, that was kind of mean don’t you think? Rome that’s a lie, I thanked you many times for that. I remember I sent you a text message thanking you and maybe even a phone call.??

Yeah, you did, I just wanted to direct the conversation towards me. Do you miss the Rip Curl times? Yeah, quitting them was the worst decision I ever made, their clothes were tight.Mark Rowe, nosegrind

This nosegrind would’ve been so much radder if he was doing it over a mass murder grave in Adelaide. Just a boring Sydney nosegrind, though.

Not as tight as that guy from that movie Positive Energy’s pants, I watched that the other day and those pants be tight! Ok, is there anything you would like to tell the worldwide web before we go?That I think Rome Torti is the most handsome man in skateboarding photography.
